Dr. Damon Popovics - Chiropractor/Clinic Director

Dr. Popovics was raised in Liverpool, NY where he developed an interest in fitness and nutrition. Remaining in NY, he attended Cornell University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Biochemistry in 1993. Then he went on to continue his education at New York Chiropractic College, from which he graduated Cum Laude in 1996.

Following graduation, Dr. Popovics moved to Prescott, AZ where he opened his first practice, and soon had one of the busiest family practices in the Tri-City area. He practices Chiropractic with a passion using CBP (Chiropractic Biophysics) Technique for unmatched spinal correction. He follows strict CBP spinal corrective protocols with follow-up post x-ray analysis to determine maximal objective correction.

In 2004, after 7 years in practice, Dr. Popovics decided to relocate to North Coastal County San Diego to open a complete Optimal Health and Wellness Center, and WELLNESS ONE was born in November 2004!

He has delivered nearly 60,000 adjustments, and has seen regular patients from 2 days to 96 years old, has been a semi-professional football team physician, was a prestigious Waiting List Practice All-State Chiropractor and Proskills Training Captain, and has been actively coaching other chiropractors toward practice success for several years.

Gene Metcalf, LMT - Licensed Massage Therapist

Gene’s unique style of Deep Tissue Sports Massage or St. John Neuromuscular Therapy is extremely advanced, detailed blend of modalities that takes you to a new level of relief beyond treating just your symptoms. Gene’s clients for over 12 years have enjoyed exceeding just pain relief to a higher level of relief: Root Cause Rejuvenation and joint, muscle and strength Regeneration. Full regeneration includes extreme cases of clients that were bed-ridden due to pain up to 8 years before we met and had several neuromuscular Therapy sessions. Primary muscles that were turned OFF was forcing smaller muscles to take over caused more knots and resulted in new injuries. The nerve signals from the brain throughout the body helped these athletes that they didn’t need to live with pain.

George Ritachka, L.Ac.- Licensed Acupuncturist

With nearly thirty years experience as a Clinical Muscle Therapist and Massage Technician, George Ritachka, L.Ac. is a Licensed Acupuncturist certified by the California Acupuncture Board.

He received his Master of Traditional Oriental Medicine degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from San Diego State University, and earned the title of Diplomate in the American Academy of Physical Oriental Medicine (AAPOM) for advanced studies in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and related pain.

His private practice in Encinitas specializes in neuromusculoskeletal disorders, sports injury medicine and pain relief, and utilizes a variety of methods for treatment, including: acupuncture, advanced microcurrent and other electroacupuncture techniques, as well as, muscle and soft tissue manual therapies.

George is often able to help where other methods have been less successful. He is known for his effective therapies and caring manner.
